Timber Nelson has recently returned home after serving two tours in Iraq. Suffering from PTSD, he’s a shadow of the man he was before his time in the military. Instead of learning to live with the nightmares he faced in the war, he drowns them in a bottle of Crown.

Katherine Pierce is an alluring woman with dark brown hair, tattoos, and a fiery attitude. Yet her history is one full of disturbing images that she’s been trying to run away from for the better part of six years.

Undeniable attraction between Timber and Kat reaches its peak and they both give in to the unquestionable pull.

Will Timber be able to save Kat from her past repeating itself?

And will they be able to soothe each other’s scars? Or will their old scars become new wounds?

This book is a stand alone.

Jessica's Review

Only one word can describe this book....AMAZING!!!! I knew going into this book there might be parts that I struggled with emotionally, but I did not expect to become this attached to it. I have read Touching Scars four times and it keeps getting better. Never have I read a book that involved PTSD and seen it handled/discussed as well as Stacy has. This is a touchy subject these days, and if it isn't handled correctly can go completely wrong. I have a personal connection with it and I will admit that I am extremely impressed. Stacy blew me out of the water! The love story between Timber and Kat is one that I will NEVER forget. I have laughed, cried, gotten mad and cried some more throughout the book. If you haven't read it yet, go get it now.

Timber Nelson just finished two tours in Iraq and suffers from PTSD. He watched his "band of brothers" dies and struggles with the guilt everyday of being the only survivor. (Rip my heart out). He doesn't think he deserves happiness, so when he sees Kat, a girl from HS, working at a bar of course he isn't sure what to do. He has to talk to her and find out what she has been up to.

Kat is not without her own demons and struggles. When she sees Timber in the bar her first instinct is to run; he is/was friends with Adam and wants nothing to do with him. But she tries to blow it off as she doesn't know him. Timber of course isn't having that.

Timber and Kat later find they not only need each other to breath and survive their pasts, but their lives will never be the same now that they have each other. Kat will be pushed to her limits to see just how much she cares for Timber when his PTSD strikes and Timber's tough guy act is put to the test with Kat as well. They are a perfect balance for each other. As with any relationship, life isn't perfect or without its struggles.

This is one love story you don't want to miss out on. I have personally recommended Touching Scars to several people who like me, couldn't put it down. Touching Scars has everything you want in a romance. Lust, love, enemies, friendships put to the test, good times and bad. I don't think I will ever truly be able to put into words how great this book is and what it means to me.

Christy's Review

Touching Scars is an absolutely amazing book! It will take you have you feeling a whole range of emotions and keep you guessing about what could happen next. Kat and Timber went to high school together. Kat was the one that everyone liked to pick on, Timber was part of the popular crowd and saw what Kat had to deal with from his friends. Kat couldn’t wait to move away as soon as she can and forget everything about her high school experience. Timber is just out of the military, struggling with PTSD and trying to find a job. Luck would have it that they end up in the same town. After seeing each other at the local bar where Kat works, Timber wants to catch up and see how Kat has been since high school, Kat just wants to run the other way wanting nothing to do with anyone from that time in her life. From the time their paths crossed again they knew that each other kept secrets and struggled with personal demons they wanted to recover from even if sharing them is harder than overcoming them. Kat and Timber are perfect for each other if they can make it past the obstacles they face. Touching Scars is the first book by Stacy Borel that I’ve read and I am completely amazed by this book. It is a fantastic read that covers some touchy subjects. I don’t know how many times I’ve read this book and can’t wait to read it again.

What inspired you to write this story?
I had this idea sometime in late June, early July. I’ve always been associated with the military in some capacity. I know that there are military books out there where the guy struggles with PTSD, but I’d never personally read them. So I took the idea, and let my mind wander. It built in my head to where I eventually had a few scenes in my head that I couldn’t shake. That’s where Touching Scars was “born”.

Are any of your characters based people you know in real life?
No. As a matter of fact, this is the first book I’ve not based a character off of anybody. They are purely part of my imagination. HOWEVER… I put ONE true story in TS that I was told over and over to put in. I won’t go into details for those that haven’t read it. But the one story that is ALLLLLL mine, is Mel’s story while playing cards. For those that have read it, yeah…. “where did it go?” and “stick it before you lick it” is me. Enjoy!

Something that I would think is difficult to write about is PTSD. Was writing about PTSD difficult for you personally? How much research did you do?
It was in the sense that I am attached to every single character I write about (yes, even the bad ones.) I asked a TON of questions to someone in the Army and learned that there are different types of PTSD, and how it displays itself. It was beyond enlightening, and I’m glad that I dug as deep as I could about the issue. It became more personal for me that way.

Do you think you will ever write another book about Timber and Kat?
I’m not sure. My betas LOVED this book and demanded more. I didn’t end them in the traditional sense that there is a wedding or babies, but I’m always a fan of a HEA. I could easily continue them, but at this point, I’m happy where I’ve left them.

What are your must haves when writing?
I don’t always have them, but I’m a HUGE Red Vines eater. I like to chew on one while I’m typing away.

What hobbies do you enjoy?
I honestly love going out fishing with my husband. It’s relaxing. (although I’m competitive and try to out-fish anybody that goes out with me lol) I’m also still a VERY avid reader. If I don’t read, I feel like my writing veers away from everything that I like in a book.

Is there someone you couldn't go a day without talking to?
My husband. He keeps me grounded, and reminds me every day that I have an ability and talent to keep going, so do it.

What is your favorite book?
As of lately, I just finished the This Man Series…holy hell I want a Jesse Ward in my house right now.

Do you think social networking is important for authors?
It is. I’m not sure how much more this needs expanding, it just is. And not as much in the sense that it gets the books out there, but also in the sense that I’ve developed some lifelong friendships with people I have yet to even meet in person. That’s incredible to me.

What would you like to say to your readers/fans?
Thank you for giving me a chance. I know that there are a lot of books out there right now that you could spend your time delving into, but thank you from the bottom of my heart for picking up one of mine. I hope that you all find something to take away with each one of my novels and you fall in love with them like I did writing them.

I'm a Coast Guard wife and currently a stay at home mom. I want to be a nurse when I "grow up." My incredibly handsome husband and I have been married for 9 years and I have 2 amazing children that keep life interesting.
I am an obsessive reader. I go through 3-5 books a week on my Kindle and I whole-heartedly support my indie authors. After reading well over a couple hundred books this year, I decided I might give it a shot writing my own book. I dabbled with a few ideas and finally settled on a story I know I'd personally read and I began the journey of creating Ever Enough. I appreciate all the support I've been given by my family, friends, and fellow indie authors. You've all shaped my view on life and books and I'll be forever greatful!
