Where do I start with this book?! It started off
one way (lots
of sex) and ends completely different, HEA love story. I'll be
honest, for about the first half of the book I wasn't a huge fan. Seemed like
every time I turned the page BAM they were at it again. Don't get me wrong a
good sex scene is great, but sometimes it can be overdone. But the second half
of the book had me white knuckled NEEDING to know what happened. I would cry
happy tears one minute and ball my eyes out feeling heartbroken the next. Such
an emotional rollercoaster. I haven't read Axel yet and while Cage can be read
as a standalone I am now dying to go back and read Axel to fill in some
questions.
Cage is very much an alpha male in all aspects of
life. He has
a troubled past and a very protective nature, but he is at the
point where just "scratching his itch" isn't cutting it for him
anymore. He sees Axel settling down and he too wants that. When he takes his "nephew" to the
pediatrician he meets Melissa. Drop dead gorgeous girl. He knows she will be
trouble but worth anything she puts him through.
Melissa has done her best to stay strong and be
the sole
supporter both emotionally and financially to what is left of her
family. She has a very troubled past of her own. When Cage walks into the doctor's
office she works for she about looses it and will do whatever it takes to stay
clear of him...or so she thinks. She is witty and mouthy and that just fuels
Cage's fire.
Their relationship takes some convincing by Cage
at first but
once they get together there is no stopping them. They have an
instant connection and LOTS of sex. There is a interesting and key point of
their pasts that overlap and about halfway through their relationship changes. I
absolutely LOVED the second half of the book. The ups and downs and fighting
for your family took about all the emotions I had. Everything Melissa was saying and felt I felt
with her. Protective Cage took it up a notch and made me fall for him hard. When I say he will do anything to keep his family safe I mean it 100%. I don't want to get into any details, but I would never want him or his friends as an enemy.
Cage is about pushing through the past, fighting
for your family and not giving up on what you want. I highly recommend it to
everyone. Make sure you have your tissues ready.
