Talk about a cliffhanger! J. Bailes knows how to keep you
on your toes and wanting more. My emotions
were all out of whack by the end of this book. I was angry, sad and joyful. When
you are crying before the end of the first chapter that is a sign of a great
book!
Allie is a young girl
in college trying to live her life the best she can. She last her father to
cancer, brother in Iraq and the love of her life, Wyatt, vanished. Reading her
story tore me up. Growing up in a military family, I know many people that have
gone through this and it touched and extra special place in my heart. The
emotions and steps Allie goes through are exactly what you would expect. She
has her best friends that become her main support and her mom. One drunk night
out having fun changes everything for her. When she thinks she will never be
able to move on or open her heart Blake seems to make his way in.
Blake loves Allie. He has always had feelings for her and
knows about her struggles in the past. He suffered from a broken heart too, but
learned to move on. He has tried to be the best friend he can, but wants more.
When he finally gets Allie to cave he won't let her go.
Allie and Blake's relationship is just what you would expect,
happy and blissful. After everything Allie has been through she deserves that
right? But blissful happiness doesn't last forever. When you least expect it,
Wyatt reappears read to get Allie back in his arms, but she isn't going to let
him in that easily. She knows her heart now belongs to Blake he pieced it
together, but first loves never fade. The twist at the end crushed me and left
me hanging on to my chair. My heart stopped and now I am stuck wondering what
will happen. I can't wait for book two.
