Translucent by Erin Noelle

Sometimes you reach a point where you just can’t take anymore—a breaking point, some call it. The day I watched my husband murder the woman who was pregnant with his child, my point didn’t just break; it exploded like a full magazine’s worth of hollow points firing through the barrel of a fully-automatic AK-47. Literally. I am no longer his American Princess, nor am I his slave. Now, I’m a murderer in hiding.

My name was Bryleigh Carter Oliveira, and that was my story.

Translucent is one woman's story of breaking free, starting over, and learning to trust again through willful submission.

I have just gotten to know Erin’ books, through her Book Boyfriend Series and I have got to say I fell in love with her writing. This new book made my jaw drop, her writing captivates you from the prologue and I just found myself reading until I could no longer keep my eyes open.

From the very first chapter I could tell this book was going to be intense but sensational as well. The ability to keep me riveted to my seat is remarkable by Erin and I felt myself turning the pages just because I wanted to see what happened next, I could not get enough.

The story starts with Bryleigh as seventeen being hypnotised by Ishmael, young love you could say, and I am sure we have all been there; we will do anything for this our first true love. Ishmael is slightly older but exudes importance, charisma and power and Bryleigh is caught up in it all.

We see at the start of this book what life is like for Bryleigh and how things are not what they appear with Ishmael, we see a darker side of Ishmael and a fear becomes part of Bryleigh’s life not just for her own safety but that of everyone she comes in contact with and her family if she should make a mistake. It all comes to a head one fateful night and I must admit I clapped and applauded Bryeligh for the actions she took.

As Bryleigh goes on with her new life, she is constantly plagued with nightmares which are so bad she inflicts harm on herself and my heart just went out for her at that point, she is only 22. Although we see at the beginning of the book parts of the old life, we read later on the steps Bryleigh has had to take to get away from that life and start to live a new one.

Byleigh soon changes her name to Blake and ready to start her life over again, new job, new friends, new look but can her past stay there?

Madden Decker is soon introduced to us and the Sexy as Hell CEO of a company in which Bryleigh needs to work with. The instant attraction between Bryleigh Blake and Madden is so tangible that you can taste it. Madden unfortunately has to experience a few of Blakes episodes but you got to love him, he never pries, and rarely gets upset if no answer is given. (where can we all get one of those guys) Although madden is very intense, he is also very controlling and makes Blake feel worshiped, loved, appreciated some of the things she has never experienced before and it is a joy to read.

Two of my favourite quotes are below:-

He made me forget everything and every else in the world, past and present, and nothing mattered except him and me… nothing but us.

If you can find it in yourself to allot me the tiniest sliver of faith, I will do everything in my power to help you break free from these demons holding you hostage.” Madden say’s to Blake",

The way Erin has written these makes the pages just fly off the screen at you and you are caught in her spell. Erin made me feel every heartbreak, every laughter but most importantly for this book, she made me feel the fear and pain that Bryleigh/Blake goes through and I just wanted more.

There is a cliff hanger for this book and I for one cannot wait until the second book comes out, personally I just want to know what happens next for these two.
