Title: Life's Next Chapter (Life #2)
Author: Sarah Goodman

Dr. Kate Caldwell strives to be the best in everything she does. Except her best wasn't good enough for her ex-husband, Keith. Keith crashed her dream of a fairy tale life when she caught him cheating on her. She is determined to focus on her new project and to giving her twin daughters a normal, happy childhood. Kate has plans to remodel the veterinary clinic her Granddaddy passed down to her. To fulfill one of her dreams she hires an architect and design firm to remodel the out dated practice and horse boarding stable. What Kate doesn't realize is her Life's Next Chapter will be mere yards away, remodeling her clinic.

Luke Ashton is the general contractor for his cousin’s company, Ashton Architecture and Design . Luke has been assigned to remodel Dr. Caldwell’s clinic, and he doesn't expect his latest project to include the woman who could knock his world off it's axis and set it right again. He finds himself working longer hours around her property, spending time to get to know Kate better. Luke is handsome, with his striking green eyes, rugged physique, and a body that would make any woman weak in the knees. He certainly turns Kate’s head.
Kate and Luke feel the chemistry and tension between them, but both are skeptical about moving forward. Kate is terrified to let anyone into her life, let alone her heart. Luke has a past that easily scares women away. He’s struggled since he was eighteen, when unexpected circumstances turned him into a man. Luke is also a veteran with nightmares that follow him all day—every day.
Do Kate and Luke give into one another’s baggage and avoid each other, like their heads tell them, or do they fight for the happily ever after they both want? When ‘life’ gives them more battles to fight, will they be strong enough to fight for each other?
“Luke, my life story is crazy and complicated, why would you want to attempt this?” – Kate
“Sunshine, we can’t erase our past, but we sure as hell can turn the page in your story and create our own crazy happy life together.” - Luke
Does Life’s Next Chapter give Kate her fairy tale ever after, or will it be the chapter she quickly skips through?

At first I was not sure what to expect with this book with not reading Life’s Perfect Plan, I soon realised that Life’s Next Chapter can be read as a standalone book, you don’t need to read the first book to enjoy this book, it holds up on its own merit.
Getting back on your feet after your loved one has cheated on you is always going to be hard, however, the way Kate put her life back together was inspiring and just showed you that anyone can do it and showed me through this book, that no matter what life throws at you it is how you deal with it that makes you stronger.  The fact that she has a lovely strong handsome man to help her along does not hurt.
Kate’s ex, Keith treated her and their daughters like crap, however, enter into the picture the sexy ex serviceman Luke Ashton, who is every girls dream, I mean who does not want a hunky butch, strong ex army man by your side, I know I would want one.

Keith really does show he is an ass at times – “I’m talking about you F***ing that asshole just feet from my daughters’ window” I am astounded by the vulgarity coming from him; he was watching us.  I hold back the tears. I will not let him see me cry “That was you.... you were watching us”  “You haven’t changed at all, Kate, so desperate you will screw anything, anywhere and anytime” “Go to hell, Keith, Let me be.  I don’t want anything from you, so leave me the hell alone” “Sugar, but you do have something.  OUR DAUGHTERS!” He screams in my face and I can feel the spit on my face.

Luke comes along to help remodel the Vet offices and establishment and help get Kate back on her feet again literally.

Eventually you can see Kate and Luke getting close but can Kate go through that again, she has already been hurt by Keith does she want this again, can she fall in love again with a new man, trust another man again?  They find themselves falling hard for each other it is beautiful to read.  Life is not always as easy as just falling for each other and living happily ever after, no it just does not work like that.  There are hardships and tears, many tears along the way and yes I cried at parts of this book, how could I not and you will too, however, these two have a path with each other and that path must play out.

Luke’s letter crushed me

My Sunshine,

Please know there hasn’t been a moment that has gone by that I don’t think of you, the girls and Luka............ (you need to read the rest)

You will laugh and cry at this book, Kate’s twin girls are so funny and delightful and will keep you in stitches with their antics that you cannot help but put a smile on your face while reading this book.

“Julia, for the fourth time stop spinning Nicole around in circles!” “But, momma, Nini likes spinning” “Julia, you keep spinning Nicole like that, she going to throw up on you” Her big brown eyes widen and her hands instantly go to her sides “Really, Momma? Cool”........ These twin girls are precious

Sarah’s writing is brilliant in this book, she lets you feel everything, the heartache and the joy in every situation.  Yes they both have baggage to deal with who doesn’t but how they deal with it with each other is shown as a great testimony to the writing, you feel the pain, the joy, the sadness and it is a joy to read.

Kate’s best friends in this book keep you laughing and are a joy to have, while reading this book I kept thinking “ I want best friends like this” they were what I would call real Best Friends.

The great thing about this book is there was no cliff-hanger.

I actually read this book in one and a half days and I loved it that much I could not put it down.

I fell in love with this book and the writing, the amount of detail in the writing is such a joy.

I would recommend this book to everyone.
