Synopsis:

At the age of seventeen, Lisa was broken when Bobby left. He was supposed to be her first. First Love. First Time. First Everything. No word for six long years. She moved away from the painful reminders sacrificing her relationship with her best friend Brad. She struggled to rebuild her life.

Now six years later she returns as a strong, successful woman grabbing a job at one of New York’s hottest marketing agencies. She is dating a gorgeous guy with his eyes on a corner office. But it all changes when she sees Bobby again.

Can she risk another heartbreak from Bobby? Will she be able to repair her friendship with Brad? Lisa will have to decide between the man she’s with, and the two men who want her.
Who will she be with, and who will she tell to “Watch Me Walk Away?”

Review:

This has to be one of the best debut novels that I have ever read. The story had its ups, downs, twist and turns that made me wonder what would happen next. Who would Lisa choose? Bobby the love of her life who left without a word or Brad her childhood best friend who has been through everything with Lisa, including losing their virginities together or even Stuart the man she is currently with who is stable and never did her wrong? I was completely strapped in for the roller coaster ride of emotions in this novel.

“To say I’ll miss you seems redundant. I’ve been missing you for years. People have called me heartless and they’re right. My heart resides with you and the only time I feel anything is when I’m in your presence. My greatest hope is that someday you will give me your heart again so I can finally feel complete.”

― Jill Prand, Watch Me Walk Away

Lisa is a very strong woman who decided after Bobby hurt her that she wouldn’t wallow in self-pity, she decided to move on and away from her life for a fresh start, leaving her childhood best friend Brad behind. I respect Lisa for making that decision. Moving on is much better than reading about a character who is not strong, who does nothing but cry. Lisa “womaned” up and put on her big girl panties and attempted to move on. Now her past has come back full force and now three men’s hearts are in her hands… which will she choose? You will have to read it to find out J

Watch Me Walk Away Review

Synopsis:

Country Music duo Blackened Sunrise is going on tour. Join Jaxson Hayes and Sadie Blake on the road as they tour the states. When these two come together all bets are off. Will they rekindle the love they once shared, or will they find some things are better off broken?

My Review:

Glenna Maynard, has done what many authors fail to do when they attempt write a companion novel… she succeeded! Blackened Hearts picks up where Beautiful Strangers leaves off, but this time in Jax’s point of view. In the novella we go on tour with Jax and Sadie from Blackened Sunrise.  Jax is nursing a broken heart over how things ended with Gracie. Jax also wants to pursue his solo career, if he could only get out of his contract with Sadie.

The relationship between Sadie and Jax is far from conventional, but they have intense chemistry and the sexual tension is obvious between the two. They each know how to make the other respond physically, leaving each other hot and bothered.

I loved this novella it was intense, sexy, very detailed and now I am stuck wanting more of Jax. Glenna is a great writer and Blackened Heart is no different. I hung on to the words, and was completely consumed in the mind of Jax. I would recommend this book and every book she has published so far to anyone who will listen. Now I’m waiting patiently for more of Jax.

Ok, first of all I want to thank Brooke for giving me an advanced copy of this book to review. Let me say this... I absolutely loved this book, and I could relate to Velaney in so many ways, due to the both of us having a horrible thing in common that took place in our pasts. Velaney (aka, Lane, aka Laney aka Vel) has a damaged past and because of that she shuts out everyone except her best friend since birth, Carissa. Then one night her life is changed forever in being saved by a sexy firefighter named Eric. She keeps running into Eric, often times literally. Velaney then finds herself battling her feelings for Eric, she knows she is attracted to him and feels this pull towards him. Velaney doesn't want to have feelings for him at the same time because she feels she cannot be with him. Then comes the sweet older brother of Kenna, a girl she works with. She feels comfortable with Alex and thinks that she could possibly be with him, but at the same time she is fighting with feelings for Eric.

Velaney is strong and considering her past, stronger than most, leaving her broken. Eric makes her open up and come to terms with her past, by saying things that cause her pain. Velaney is a girl who is very magnetic and pulls you in, which causes you to feel her pain. You feel her overcomed by her emotions and it's one reason this book is so great.  Now...not only is Velaney a very detailed and well written character but all the characters in this book are written the same way. You get to know them and feel emotions as it happens to them.

Don't even get me started on Aiden as he is the cause of Velaney's pain. because that will not be a pleasant conversation. Needless to say, I believe he should be taken into a room and beaten to a pulp, but who knows...it could happen!

This book had me laughing, at times crying, biting my nails and racking my mind trying to figure out what would happen next. It was hard to put down, I found myself sleep reading because I just did not want to stop. At times I found myself holding on to my blanket and gasping...I seriously felt the "Spark"! Just when you think you know what is going to happen, BAM! You'll find yourself blindsided and in complete shock!

This book is a tale of learning to forget the past and not let it affect your life. It's about learning to be yourself and letting people in, letting yourself feel and not fearing the past.  Learning to let go and move on allows you to feel things and experience things that you never would before.

Spark is to be released on August 6th but it was released on the July 27th and I would recommend to anyone who will listen to purchase this book. It is worth the money and you will not regret it. You will find yourself enthralled and love it! You will laugh; cry; smile; growl; bite your nails while falling in love.

**This book is for mature audiences only**
